TuneCore opens Nashville Office to Deepen Music-Industry Relationships and Grow Career-Building Opportunities for the New Generation of Musician-Entrepreneurs

tunecoreNEW YORK, Sept. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Leading digital music distribution and music publishing administration company TuneCore announced today the launch of a Nashville office to be led by music industry veteran Shelby Kennedy. Kennedy joins TuneCore as Vice President, Entertainment Relations. In this role, he will work closely with musicians, songwriters and strategic partners with the goal of driving greater opportunities throughout the evolving business of music.

The addition of a Nashville office is the latest development in TuneCore’s rapid growth. The city was selected for its history of music innovation, vibrant community of artists and network of industry stakeholders.

The son of legendary guitarist Jerry Kennedy, Shelby Kennedy was born into the Nashville music scene and has become a well-known and respected expert in the city and beyond. He brings to TuneCore a rich, 25-year history of industry experience across wide-ranging functions including management, publishing, production, songwriting and performance. Prior to joining TuneCore, Kennedy has held diverse roles with companies including ASCAP, BMI, Lyric Street Records, Wide Open Music Group and Cherry Heart Music and Entertainment and ran his own company, Porch-Pickin’ Publishing, for the past 18 years.

“Nashville is one of the most creative cities in the world, and Shelby Kennedy has deep relationships and broad expertise in the music industry. As TuneCore expands our support for the increasing number of musicians and songwriters who choose independence to take control of their careers, both are a natural fit,” stated Scott Ackerman, CEO of TuneCore. “We’re confident that this expansion positions TuneCore to stay at the forefront of the evolving music industry.”

“I am tremendously excited to join TuneCore and take a leadership role in building the new model of the music industry,” commented Kennedy. “I hope to tap my experience spanning the spectrum of roles across the business – from songwriter to performer to business executive – to act as a catalyst in driving opportunities for artists, songwriters and other key partners.”
