Piddle6_1408393692033_7438640_ver1.0_640_480TAFT, Calif. – A dog from Taft is being hailed as a hero.

Piddle is a two-year-old pitbull mix.

His owner, Kanoe Bandy, boarded him at the Taft Veterinary Hospital while she was on vacation.

While away on vacation, Bandy said she got a desperate call from the vet. Fearing the worst, Bandy called the vet to see what was wrong.

The vet, Dr. George Ross, said another dog had come in that had been poisoned and was going to die without a blood transfusion.

Ross wanted to know if he could use Piddle as a blood donor.

Without a moments hesitation Bandy gave the go-ahead.

The border collie named Nina was given a blood transfusion from Piddle and survived.

Bandy says she hopes that someone would do the same thing for her dog in that situation.
