LAUREL, Md., Oct. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — In recognition of October’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month, for the third-consecutive year, Verizon Wireless and the Baltimore Ravens are hosting a HopeLine wireless phone recycling drive on Sunday, October 19th at M&T Bank Stadium. Fans are encouraged to donate no-longer-used wireless devices, chargers and accessories to Verizon’s HopeLine Wireless Phone Recycling Program at the Ravens vs. Falcons upcoming home game.

Through HopeLine from Verizon, donations directly impact domestic violence prevention and benefit survivors of abuse in the form of cash grants and free wireless phones for emergency use. Since HopeLine launched, Verizon Wireless has collected more than 10 million phones and donated more than $21 million to domestic violence prevention organization across the country, including many Maryland-based non-profits like House of Ruth Maryland, the Women’s Law Center of Maryland, and the Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence. More than 180,000 phones with wireless minutes and text messaging service have been donated through HopeLine for use by domestic violence victims and survivors, and the program has kept more than 210 tons of electronics waste and batteries out of landfills.

HopeLine collection bins will be set-up in the following locations for convenient drop-off of any no-longer-used cellphone, charger or wireless accessory, from any provider, and in any condition:

“Most of us have old wireless devices lying around the house, whether it’s a cell phone or charger we no longer use,” said Marquett Smith, Verizon Wireless regional president. “We want to make it convenient for Ravens fans who’ll be coming to the October 19th game to join us in the effort to bring help to the nearly one in four women, one in seven men and more than 3 million children in the United States who are affected by domestic violence.”

For those not able to attend the October 19th Baltimore Ravens game, but still wishing to donate to HopeLine, no-longer-used wireless devices can be donated at any Verizon Wireless store or mailed using a free postage-paid label, which can be found at: http://www.verizonwireless.com/aboutus/hopeline/get-involved.html
