Deer friends! Heart-warming moment wild fawn finds new play buddy in Gus the Labrador before pair happily chase each other around owner’s back yard

This is the moment a playful deer visited a family home to play with an alarmed pet dog.

Chris Mesler was enjoying the autumn sun at home in Smithfield, Pennsylvania, on October 20, when the deer wandered into his yard.

Though he was surprised by the animal, his dog Gus was even more alarmed.

The chocolate Labrador barked several times in surprise, before running away from the unassuming deer in panic.

The cheeky deer followed Gus and they both ran past a stunned Chris, with the deer almost slipping on the porch.

Chris called his wife and his child to come and see the commotion, as he recorded it on his phone.

Eventually, the dog chased the deer away but not before it managed to get a gentle pat from Chris Mesler

The boisterous deer eventually stopped on the porch, calmly letting Chris stroke and pat its head.

All the while, Labrador Gus continued to bark in alarm, getting louder and louder and ignoring his owner’s pleas to calm down.

Eventually, growing bolder, Gus chased the deer away, barking as they ran out of sight through the back of the garden.
