Over 9.4 Million Make a Commitment to STOMP Out Bullying

NEW YORK, Oct. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — As the leading national anti-bullying/cyberbullying organization for kids and teens in the U.S., STOMP Out Bullying kicked off National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month in a big way.

The kick-off began with its global initiative Blue Shirt Day® World Day of Bullying Prevention where students and adults alike wore blue on the first Monday of October (October 6^th) making that the day that bullying prevention was heard around the world.

Whether students purchased a STOMP Out Bullying blue shirt or wore their own, the call to action gave students an opportunity to use their voices urging for bullying and cyberbullying to end around the world.

A pep rally was held at the Albert Leonard Middle School in New Rochelle, NY with celebrity guest Mario Lopez in attendance who spoke of the importance of putting an end to bullying.

Celebrities such as Chloë Grace Moretz, Abigail Breslin, Robin Roberts, Taylor Schilling, Mario Lopez, Josh Gad, James Marsden, Cyndi Lauper, Megan Hilty and celebrity makeup artist Kristofer Buckle appeared in PSAs helping to raise awareness of the issue.

STOMP Out Bullying offers additional activities during the remainder of the October where students can participate to raise awareness and speak up about being upstanders for those who witness bullying.

Over 1,000 schools registered to show their commitment and 3200 new schools have signed up this week. They span across the globe.

Since 2005, STOMP Out Bullying has helped hundreds of thousands of students resolve bullying and cyberbullying situations. Its HelpChat Line has assisted almost 12,000 students this year alone and saved the lives of 194. These numbers increase daily.

The numbers speak for themselves. Students are tired of the cruelty and intolerance. They look to STOMP Out Bullying as a source to help them learn in safe environments and live in safer communities.

As one of the first groups to focus on bullying and cyberbullying, just recently STOMP Out Bullying was voted as one of the top 2014 nonprofits by Great Nonprofits for the third year in a row.
