PHOENIX, July 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — McDonald’s restaurants throughout greater Phoenix and northernArizona will host Backpack Saturday, July 26th, an event that will give away 25,000 backpacks and help thousands of families get ready for school!
Beginning at 8 a.m., McDonald’s restaurants will begin distributing the FREE backpacks to the first 100 children, accompanied by parent, that visit their local McDonald’s restaurant. Children will also receive a FREE Go-GURT Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt, in celebration of McDonald’s new Happy Meal choice. In addition, a special educational bookmark from Expect More Arizona’s “Today I Will” initiative will be distributed to parents.
The backpacks will be given away at McDonald’s restaurants in Maricopa, La Paz, Mohave, Yavapai, Coconino,Gila, Navajo, Apache, Graham, Pinal and Yuma counties. The FREE Backpack offer excludes Walmart and shopping mall McDonald’s restaurant locations.
“Since 2012, Arizona McDonald’s restaurants have given away more than 48,000 backpacks to Arizonafamilies,” said Michelle Slayton, president of McDonald’s Owner/Operator Association of Phoenix and Northern Arizona. “We’re excited to host this annual event to help our local families prepare for the upcoming school year.”
